Description
I paint a lot of sunrises and sunsets. There is an increasing danger that I have used the name before but that probability decreases substantially if I add in the year. In this case the year can also describe the number of colours in the sunset. For example there are at least fifty shades of gray. If we start counting the other colours, I am sure we can get up to 2015 or at least close.
There is a lot of meteorology in this sunset. There are deformation zones at different levels. These relatively stable layers of advancing warmer and stable stable air are revealed by gravity waves. There was also a layer of fog over the western basin of Singleton Lake. The timing of this sunset was a couple of days after #1713 "December Morn" so the winter weather had still not yet fully arrived. Maybe this was the major storm on this western horizon. I forget. The clouds are all strongly backlit. Snow virga can be seen on the western horizon under the altocumulus castellanus.
I try to diagnosis the types and colouration of all of the clouds as I paint them. It is not an easy task as you have to place them all in their three dimensional space and keep in mind where the sun is. Of course, nature does all of these calculations at the speed of light. It takes me a bit longer. However, if you paint what you see, it must be right. Right?
