Description
I was between two lines of thunderstorms. Cold gust fronts passed through a couple of times from the line to the north while I painted the line to the west over Caledon. The convection changed quickly but I locked in the image at the start. The bright towering cumulus were tilted with the wind shear toward the southeast. The more developed thunderstorms were more vertical with stronger updrafts. The rain shaft with the thunderstorm on the right side of the image swirled outward on the leading edge and might have caused brief, localized damage. The thunder was rumbling away to both the north and the west while I painted ... with my metal easel on top of the hill. Duh. I was prepared to bail if the lightning got too close. I only saw one cloud to ground strike but it was a doozy over Bolton.
