Description
The sounds of spring filled the early morning foggy air. Ruffed grouse were drumming the beat while the barred owls hooted in time. Canada geese seemed to want to take over the loon platform that I had put out earlier in the morning but the pair of loons repeatedly moved them along. The ice still dominated the western basin of Singleton Lake. The forest and rocky shoreline were mirrored in the calm waters of the eastern basin. I used a lot of paint on this very rough surface.
A frontal wave was scheduled to arrive during the afternoon with some showers so I decided to paint outside while it was still dry. The water vapour imagery revealed this feature was actually down over Lake Erie and well south of where the quasi-automatic frontal analysis had it positioned. The analysis of surface fronts and features is an art in itself.
