Description
A remarkable sunrise that epitomizes"red sky in morning, sailor take warning". The August sunrise illuminated the virga falling from the high nimbostratus. The atmosphere, moisture laden cloud droplets and elevated precipitation were scattering all but the long wavelength red light. The big red light was charging right into my eye and on to the canvas. Simply, a large low pressure area was on the way. Southern Ontario was in a drought situation so this was good news. As it turned out, some rain fell but the soil was still parched and the lawn did not need cutting. We would need a few more soaking rainfalls before I would have to start the orange Cadillac of a mower again. The two long lines on the eastern horizon were deformation zones at different levels in the atmosphere. They marked the leading edge of the warm conveyor belt of warmth and moisture from the Gulf of Mexico. .
This view is looking east from the front yard of the farm on the 12th Concession of King Township.

Red sky in morning or a Kabuki dancer in elaborate costume and make-up? The sky is definitely singing and dancing with color Phil! Electrifying!
Phil Chadwick replied:
Ahh... you made you Google Kabuki :>) What an interesting comparison and story. Thank you Susan!
