Description
A significant winter storm was on its way. The very raw easterly winds of the cold conveyor belt portion of the winter storm were already being flet. I headed to the back hill behind the paddocks to get out of the wind. With my back to the wind it was quite pleasant. Horses always point their back ends into raw weather as well so I was at least as clever as the livestock of Watershed Farm. I was able to paint without gloves until the very end. It was only just below freezing but my hands can't take the cold since they were frozen when I painted number 0610 Wild Life with the family Chesapeake.
This view is looking westward and focuses on the trails that I keep mowed. These trails mark the high point of the Oak Ridges Moraine at this point. I was actually standing with my back to the watershed as both slopes to the trail feed into Lake Ontario via the Humber River. Behind me, the water drains to Lake Simcoe. A herd of deer crossed the trail as I painted. It was completely overcast and by the time I finished it was almost ready to snow.
