Artist's Description
The well predicted winter storm arrived just as I was working on my plein air painting of the "spruce wall". These trees had been planted to be harvested as Christmas trees but they quickly grew much too large. The trees were full of nature - all kinds of birds and mammals. As it snowed, the colours changed rapidly to all white. I had already locked the colours in just as the first flakes were falling. It was going to be a strong low pressure area with lots of significant impacts. The easterly winds of the cold conveyor belt were still very strong. The associated blowing and drifting snow would make the laneway very tricky to navigate.

A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
