Description
It was Tuesday, September 12th, 2006. My friend, one of the Director's of the Algonquin Art Centre and the Framing Place Gallery, couldn't get the time to go painting with me. However, he directed me to his place on Benson Lake which is just south of Hutchinson Road and west of Limberlost Road. "Hutchinson" is spelled "Hutcheson" on the Limberlost Road signs but the other way on maps. I needed my wife's four wheel drive Forester to get back into the spot!
I started painting around 2:30 pm from just beside the fire pit looking toward the west and southwest. The winds were fitful so the water surface was sometimes like glass and sometimes had ripples progress across it with a gust of wind. I was trying to loosen up the brushwork.
After I finished this sketch, I took Matt's red canoe for a spin around the lake. It was a fun paddle.
