Artist's Description
The view is looking northward in the morning of a summer day with the sun still on the eastern side of high noon. The clouds reveal a northeasterly breeze which is counter to any lake breeze that one could imagine. A lake breeze would be unlikely this day at Southampton. The reason is that there is a ominous west to east cloud deck further to the north and it looks warm frontal perhaps ahead of the low pressure area to the southwest of Chantry Light. This low pressure area is required to explain the wind direction. The clouds in the photo are subtle but if you look closely, you can see the details required to sleuth the scene.
This painting is intended as a partner to #771"The Light on Chantry Island". The palette and the colours used were the same.
About Phil Chadwick
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...

Art is as natural as sunshine and as vital as nourishment. π πΈπ πΈ Congratulations on your recent sale π πΈπ πΈ
Phil Chadwick replied:
Thanks you Gull. Art certainly make a day and a life. Trying to paint something better every new day is my personal challenge and it keeps me very engaged with nature... and the weather too.
