Description
I headed out to the back hill to catch the sunset at 4 pm Tuesday, December 19th, 2006. There was a very chilly west-northwest breeze blowing at ground level and sweeping up over the hill. The clouds were drifting southward under the guidance of the northerly winds aloft. Surface friction and the Ekman spiral are the reason for this apparent inconsistent wind shift.
The light in the setting sun and the clouds were spectacular. I think I captured the soul of the scene. My hands got really cold and I had to retreat at dark to warm up.
