Description
The open water was like glass and I could not resist the urge to put my canoe in the water. I paddled every inch of the ice free waterway. I couldn't go very far into Singleton Lake but I did paddle almost all the way to the elbow in Long Reach.
The cirrus mares tails revealed that Singleton was still on the east side of the upper ridge. The fair weather would persist for another day or two.
The ice was thick along the shoreline. I liked the way that the cakes of ice were linked to the shore. The water levels had gone done a bit after freezing up hard after Christmas. This cake ice was literally hinged at the lakeshore and floated up and down with the water levels. The open water and various types of ice all reflect the light and colour very differently. Fun!
