Description
This is the sunset on Monday July 3rd, 2017 at 8:50 pm. Apparently this was the date in 1775 when George Washington took command of the Continental Army in 1775. Who knew? I was simply enjoying the sunset and felt it would be a good exercise on a chilly winter day. Plein air was out of the question with the La Nina Arctic outbreak and the wind chill.
The sunset sky was not really serious but I enjoyed the pun. Summer weather is seldom treacherous especially at Singleton Lake that lies within the protective triangle of the Lake Ontario Lake breeze and the St Lawrence River. The dark shapes to the right of the Singleton shoals were bass fisherman legally enjoying the riches of the lake as contrasted with those that start fishing the pass as soon as the ice goes out.
This was painted on a very smooth and slippery surface and I used lots of paint. Fun.
