Description
The rain was pounding down at 9 am and it didn't look good for the second day of the Art Society King Studio tour. There was a brisk and chilly wind out of the northeast and combined with the rain and the saturated atmosphere, it was almost too nasty to paint. However, I had the time and opportunity and I wasn't going to let it go to waste. I didn't expect anyone to come under such conditions. The temperature might have been 6 degrees Celsius but it felt colder.
By the time I was done near noon, the weather was much nicer. I wanted to capture the difference in the colours between the rain sodden barn boards and the dry portions under the eaves. The east wall of the barn was darker and more exposed to the rain than the north wall. I also wanted to do the spruce tree that my friend George Craib and I planted in front of the barn. I think that he thought that I should have placed it somewhere else. He could be right.
As it turned out, 75 people or so came by to see my art and 5 pieces went to good homes. I was able to show blue birds to many of the visitors.
