Description
This is where the water of Singleton Lake spills over a marble ledge and into Jim Day Rapids. It is also where I swim.
The sounds of spring was my music for this canoescape. The various types of frogs were very loud in the marsh. Turkeys were gobbling in the forest and fields. The Canada geese were vocal as well as they vied for the best nesting territories. The drum of ruffed grouse was the background rhythm section. Goshawks tend to target these drummers on their log perches. All of these sounds were a natural part of spring at Singleton Lake.
This was perfect Goldilocks weather for painting outside... not too hot and not too cold with no biting insects.
A few days earlier I had painted the exit outlet of Jim Day Rapids in number 1918 Spring Morning Jim Day so I guess these are a suitable matched pair. number 1920 Spring Forest Shore completes the trio of spring time paintings done at Jim Dey Rapids.
