Title
Hi Water
Artist
Phil Chadwick
Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
The water level on Singleton Lake had come up by three feed with the spring melt. That plus the impending rain event prompted the issuance of an appropriate flood watch. The Chadwick Art House is certainly not under any threat but those residents and the camp ground on the western shore certainly were.
The rain had still not arrived so I too the opportunity to paint the last remaining swath of ice on the western shore of Singleton. The ice shone like a fluorescent tube in contrast to the grey skies, water and trees. The low water lines etched on the marble of the lake shore were well submerged and thus do not appear in this painting.
Yes, the title is meant to be a pun on "high". The scarcity of water in the future climate will make it a welcome visitor. Farmers on the dry west coast under the upper ridge will be eager to say "hi" to water.
