Description
Starting at 4:30 pm (January 12th, 2006), I headed out to the back hill to catch the sunset. I was tired of looking at the satellite palette which was my training work with COMET and Environment Canada so I switched to a real palette instead. It was a beautiful sunset and I worked fast. The day had been near record mild with highs near plus 9 Celsius - extreme warmth for the middle of winter. Thus, this was a January thaw which may explain why I titled the painting the way I did. After the "Tweety Bird" style of speech, I thought I thaw a that thunthet... Your lips don't do well when it is cold and even at plus 9 Celsius, it was a damp type of mild air and thus still chilly.
The sunset deformation zones foretold of a warm conveyor belt and a winter storm of the way.
