Description
I had my chores done so I headed to my favourite fence line in search of snow. There was a brisk northerly wind that was veering more northeasterly. It would have been quite chilly in the wind. However in the protection of the forest and with the sun beaming in, it was really very pleasant. The cirrus in the southwestern sky marked a deformation zone and the approach of a system. The official forecast called for rain on Saturday morning and it looked very plausible. My Dad passed away almost 6 years ago and this sketch is in memory of him. He liked the simple things: walks in the woods, the weather, snow, fence posts...
The snow bank was scooped by the sun and the wind. The scoops were in shadow while the ridges were in sunlight. It might look odd but that is what I saw. The same granite rock was still on the fence post. The grasses were beaten down by the winter. I have painted this spot before.
