Water is the great leveler. The water etches the marble on the shoreline leaving an indelible record of the comings and going of precipitation and the seasons. This huge slope of marble on the southern shore of Singleton Lake has recorded the extremes in water levels since the time of the retreating glaciers. The etchings are not time stamped unfortunately so we do not really know exactly when these extremes occurred and reoccurred. Lovely painting Phil! I love the dancing clouds and expressive trees, anchored by the 'turtle rock'!
Phil Chadwick replied:
Thank you so much Susan. The surface is coarse weave masonite which allowed me to forget about any detail.
