Description
This is the north Shore of Lilac Island around 2 pm on Thursday April 30th. There was a gusting southwesterly flow funneling down the St Lawrence in advance of a warm front. The warm frontal surface was visible aloft as gravity waves in the bases of the clouds. The low had to be tracking to the north if the pressure gradient was enough to cause the southwesterly flow. Rain and the warm sector were on the way.
There was a hole in the wind on the north shore of the island. I tied up my canoe, Margaritaville and poked around the island looking for subject matter - that didn’t require me standing waist deep in the April water. This is the best view looking along the north shore. I was standing on the very southwestern tip of the island with waves crashing at my feet. The larger dock wasn’t in the water yet.
I was most interested in the colours of the rock and the flagged shapes of the trees. The only sign of habitation were the bare outlines of the shed among the trees, the dock and my Kevlar canoe. Sweet! I briefly disturbed a pair of Canada geese that were nesting on the island. They had a nice clutch of five eggs.
