I particularly am captive by the color, and the use of this horizontal format.

Phil Chadwick replied:

Thank you Warren. I keep unusual shapes for those moments when I need to get out of my comfort zone and try something new. Happily, I paint to please myself but what is wonderful when someone else likes it as well.

Artist's Description

Perhaps there was no thunder after all with these multi-cell towers. The cloud had the structure of a shallow multi-cell thunderstorm. The flanks of the cumulus towers caught the sunrise light just right. That lighting would not last long with or without lightning. It is funny how one letter can change everything in a word. There was indeed lightning detected nearby but I am no longer certain what percentage of the strokes this detection system actually senses. Most detectors work best with cloud to ground strokes and in-cloud lightning is typically missed.

The western shore of Singleton Lake was very well lit. Even the smallest trailers of Singleton Lake Campground stuck out like a beacon. The fifty shades of greens found in the forest were also evident.

About Phil Chadwick

Phil Chadwick

I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
