Description
This was the first day of the First Westport Plein Air Painting Festival.
The one bright line is an older contrail from a jet headed eastward. The second contrail was still being laid down by the jet. The southeasterly winds were gusty and threatened to blow over my easel. I was faithful to the shape of the terrain on the north shore of the Upper Rideau. Apparently Colonel John By raised the water level by eight feet and a swamp that filled this western basin of the Rideau Canal was turned into a lake. This is the high point of the Rideau Canal. It is all down hill from here.
