Description
I wanted to have some fun with a dramatic sky while I waited for the temperature to rise a little bit. This October sky showed some streets of turbulent stratocumulus aligned with the strong northwesterly winds. These are inter-connected, quasi-horizontal, helical circulations with the cloud bands along the updrafts separated by the relative clear areas in the down draft portions of the helix. The swaths of virga were regularly spaced along these streets and di not amount to much. This virga was certainly snow as the cloud depth of stratocumulus was certainly minimal. The complex circulations produce equally complex patterns in the sky. The snow virga wafting down from the updraft portions helix never made it to the lake. There is no virga like snow virga - like no virga I know. The weather never lets me down.
