Description
As the osprey flies, this nest is not very far from either the studio or the osprey nest on Singleton Lake. See #1712 "Osprey Home". This nest in the east basin of Red Horse Lake has also been used for years. It is quite a long and zigzagged paddle to get to this nest. It is a relatively short distance if I could walk on water but there is no fear of that ever happening. The osprey are shy and tend to fly away when I paddle by. Otherwise we see them flying the circuit of Singleton watching for something to dive for. I have watched them fly back to the nest with their fast food fish dinner. They twist their dinner in their talons so that it is more aerodynamic for them. The head of the dinner faces forward and the tail takes up the rear.
This is also the bay were we had a loon platform in operation for a decade or so.
