Description
This is the son of 0889 The Battery. I wanted to do a larger version of the very successful sketch and didn't have a 3x4 foot canvas. So I settled on a 24x30 inch format. I always like a little pun in the title.
This is view across the entrance to St. John's Harbour at "The Battery". This small, close-knit fishing community was very colourful on a sunny Newfoundland day. The colours of the homes are what drew me to this landscape - so to speak. The streets are as steep as "Hello". One has to use a combination of gas and brake to keep going where you want which has to be either up or down. The homes of the Battery were built by fishermen but are now being customized as the area has become fashionable and remains very close to the busy downtown of St. John's.
Sadly this hillside is responsible for St John's reigning as the leading Canadian city for avalanche deaths. Every few years a slide of snow and ice crashed down the hillside and takes out a shed or home or something along with the people inside.

Wonderful! L/F

Thanks Sunny... this is an historic place. Those fishing shacks and modest homes have been gentrified by lawyers and bankers.
