Number 1888 "Whiskey Jack Bay" is the same scene as number 1841 "October Bay". Number 1841 was actually number six in the Canoe Lake Paddle as numbered along the path of the paddle. I had paddled southward into the next bay - Whiskey Jack Bay. There was a fresh painting around every corner. The forest was a sea of green turning red. The fog was lifting into a mist. The overcast stratus hid the swirls of altostratus above as well as the approaching rain. The nimbostratus was still several hours to the south. It was a beautiful day to paddle Canoe Lake and I was all by myself. I really thought that "October Bay" needed a larger format and this is it.
I recognized the scene as one of the Tom Thomson weather records that I frequently include in my "Tom Thomson Was A Weatherman" presentation. Tom's record was of a cold frontal painting in autumn.
