Artist's Description

This is the second demonstration piece for the second week of teaching at the Southampton Art School. This is looking southwest toward Port Elgin. The cold front came through around 1:15 pm and was a wimp! But I love painting the weather.

It was actually a split front as the wind shifted to the west aloft well before the surface cold front came through. Gravity waves in the high level altocumulus were the clue for the upper level westerly winds. The low level winds were light easterly blowing into the frontal trough.
