Artist's Description

This painting is based on one of my favourites #0843 "Chickanishing Creek Meets Georgian Bay" . This plein air painting was a bit of a miracle as I stumbled around looking for inspiration. I had hiked all of the way to the end of the trail with my gear and was not going to return without something to show for it. This sketch was the result and I liked to from the first brush stroke but wasn't sure just why. The finished painting sold immediately upon my return.

This large canvas will be my attempt to breath more life into the composition. I have only just started so I do not know yet how it will end. I guess the two 4x6 footers that I painted for the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Flag burnt me out. It was a huge job and only fellow artists who have walked those paths will understand. That's OK.

About Phil Chadwick

Phil Chadwick

I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
