Artist's Description
I was out kayaking at 8 am on Wednesday September 16th, 2015. The fall fog was just starting to lift from the surface of Singleton Lake. The colours of the fog transforms rapidly as it lifts into stratus and then stratus fractus and eventually cumulus. I quite enjoyed witnessing the the transformation. The blue sky of the ridge of high pressure was starting to peak through the fog. The distant northwestern shore of Singleton Lake was comprised of different shades of blue and green. The fall colours of the vegetation were also starting to emerge.
The westerly prevailing winds were clearly demonstrated in the flagging of the trees and the boughs that cling to life on the exposed point of marble. The trees get progressively more sparse as they venture out toward the end of the marble point.
About Phil Chadwick
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
