This one is a magnificent work of art! Love the color, contrast, abstract design and brushwork....just perfect!

Phil Chadwick replied:

I was experimenting Sunny. The surface was smooth and slippery and I wanted the brushwork to be simple and not fiddly. Every day is another chance to learn. Thank you so much Sunny!

Artist's Description

The approaching cirrostratus was low on the western horizon. There was a gentle easterly breeze that was characteristic of the cold conveyor belt being drawn into the approaching low pressure area. Another winter storm was on the way to add to the deep snow already in the fields.

This painting is on a small basswood plank which had almost no tooth. It is another SSS - small slippery surface painting and I had fun. I scratched my name in the thick wet paint with a toothpick. I like to keep my signature subtle.

About Phil Chadwick

Phil Chadwick

I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
