By 8 am I was "outstanding" in front of the barn looking for something to paint. I like the way the tall flowers cast their shadows on the bright foundation of the barn. As well, the sun was on my back so it was a most pleasant place to paint. There are names for these perennial flowers but goodness knows what they are. There are even a few tall weeds that the honey bees really enjoyed in the upper left of the painting. This is the way I keep a flower bed - o' natural. Linda hasn't touched these flowers in years. I support them with cord to keep them from falling over and do some weeding and edging and the rest is up to them.

I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants...
