This is number nineteen in the Canoe Lake Paddle as numbered along the path of the paddle. I paddled northward in front of the series of cottages along the shore in front of Mowat. According to the official survey, these cottages lie in Concession 12 of Peck Township, Ontario. The southernmost property featured in this painting belonged to the Blecher's. At one time there was a boathouse to go with the cottage. In 2016 the boathouse had long ago been replaced by some spruce trees. What I believe had once been a two storey cottage had been extensively remodelled. Nothing stays the same and that is the way of life and the world. Out of respect for the current property owners, I did not linger as I paddled by. I paused just long enough to get some material for this painting.
The Trainor property is cottages to the north. I included the white peak of the Trainor Cottage peeking out from behind Anderson's waterfront place and the accompanying birches.

I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
