Description
I looked up from working on #1004"Before August Dawn" and saw the backlit towering cumulus fractus - the name I made up might be a bit unusual but that it what the cloud looked like. I rushed in to get another canvas and splashed in the composition before the cloud had completely "fractized". I worked fast with lots of paint. I had to rush in to get some more titanium white to capture the brilliance of the back lighting. The towering cumulus fractus was completely dissolved in 10 minutes. Even though it was short lived, this cloud clue was shouting out that it was going to be a very unstable day. I was looking forward to some convection and maybe another chance to paint the clouds.
There was also a jet coming into Pearson International Airport as I worked on the painting. The high flyer did a classic turn toward the southwest over the farm so I included the contrail just as it appeared.
The title of of course is modeled after the Beatles' tune but I added in "August" so that I could use the title again when I did other sunrises - presumably in different months of the year.
