Intriguing composition - remind me of handcast candlesticks. great stuff!!

Artist's Description

It was windy and a very cold minus 14 Celsius outside, so I decided to paint the view looking out the front window at The Executive. The cat demanded to be cuddled first but after that, I painted until I could no longer see my brush. This is the partner work to 0936 Fifth Floor Shadows - Two.

There was a row of healthy maple trees along the steel waterfront. Numerous birds of all types find homes and food in these trees during the summer. In the winter, they are rather stark. The maple branches twist at odd angles as a result of the heavy pruning they receive each year.

The setting sun cast the shadows to the northeast while illuminating the sunny side with brilliant orange light. The lights from The Executive were just starting to get brilliant enough at sunset to cast a new series of shadows to the southeast. It is not a polished work, but I had fun!

About Phil Chadwick

Phil Chadwick

I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
