Artist's Description
The forest wall borders Long Reach Lane on its way to the properties bordering Long Reach. It is a mixture of white pine, maple, oak, birch, butternut and hickory. It is full of wild life. This is also the view from the Singleton front yard. I have painted it several times - mainly because I would rather stay home than travel to paint.
The chilly northeast winds were still dominant. Although it was indeed clear overnight and sunny most of the morning, daytime heating ignited the cold air mass stratocumulus. Turbulent mixing and lift off the Laurentians also played a part. It was pure sunshine just to the west. The gravity waves were perpendicular to the more northerly winds at the level of the clouds. These clouds were lower at three thousand feet above ground level.

A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training.
