Artist's Description
This wilderness scene is actually on the southeast shore of the rather round Lyndhurst Lake. It is about a 30 minute paddle from the studio. I wonder if it was a kettle lake or just accidently round. A mixture of very old red and white cedars lined the marble shoreline. There was an old and very red cedar log that reminded me of a Tom Thomson painting. I actually did not include it in the painting when I did the sketch - maybe next time. The water was shallow and lily pads dotted the depths like stepping stones. There was a line of white pines along the horizon on the east shore of the Lyndhurst Lake outlet which is appropriately named Lyndhurst Creek.
About Phil Chadwick
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...

Thank you Nikki. This was a small, very rough surface - no way for too much detail :>))
