Love the rendition and the subject matter - very close to my heart. We live on a native prairie pasture in NW Iowa with 4 species of Asclepias (milkweed) and are in the high traffic zone on their trip to SW Ontario and back to Mexico. We had a Fall Roost in the hundreds late in August, in our grove above the pasture...had them in the thousands 20 years ago - which dropped to a couple dozen 10 years later when the population crashed...it has gradually increased each year since. The Mexican mountain forest sanctuaries have suffered such a great loss in timber from "black market harvesting" to major ice storm loses 2-3 years back...the hectares of specific Monarch over wintering has dropped alarmingly the past 50 years. Living smack dab in the middle of the "Corn Belt" I would have to say 'Yes' Glyphosate started the domino effect, but other "pesticides" are contributing to invertebrate loses (Glyphosate is an herbicide). Thank you for you brilliant and beautiful work Phil!

Phil Chadwick replied:

Thank you Bruce. I read your note a couple of times at least. We are on the same page my friend. I have read extensively bilieving that an informed opinion is the only one that should matter. Corporate greed sums it up. I have read that the corn crop is more plastic and petroleum than plant. The substance that the corn grows in is no longer soil. Keep painting. I admire your artistry.

Terrific variations of color on the leaves...wow! So beautiful in contrast with the lavender/mauves of the flowers...Amazing study in color! What a great way to document your work and life with the paintings and detailed description and excellent info. An amazing body of work, too! Awesome, Mr. Chadwick! l/f

Phil Chadwick replied:

I guess my art is a puzzle of patterns and colours... constructed by nature and light. I just follow and it seems to just happen en Plein Air. Thank you Sunny. You touched on the body of work. I am up to 2430 paintings keep trying to learn and get better. Life is very good.
