Artist's Description
It was a Cheshire Cat Moon that was hiding behind the stratocumulus clouds on the western horizon. The sunset colours were striking! There were some crepuscular rays cast by the clouds. The brisk northerly winds were starting to diminish somewhat. Even though spring had officially started, the temperatures would drop to minus 20 Celsius under the clear skies behind the cold front. The Cheshire Cat would grin all night long as the clouds cleared after sunset.
I had planned to paint en plein air on the following Monday morning but although it was sunny, the wind chill was brutal. I painted inside in front of the wood stove. There would be no victory in freezing one's hands yet again.
About Phil Chadwick
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...

Great blocks of colors Phil! I can really feel the chill!
Phil Chadwick replied:
Those slippery surfaces make me just lay the paint on and leave it :>)) Thanks
