Wednesday October 22nd, 2014 - I had just watched the noon news regarding the senseless and cowardly terrorist shootings on Parliament Hill. I decided that I needed to paint.
This was also the day marking the 50th anniversary of the Flag Committee's selection of the single maple leaf as the Canadian flag. The selection still had to be ratified by Parliament and that was no easy task either. My friend John Ross Matheson engineered the entire process much like playing a game of survivor.
Maybe the good will balance the bad...
I stood on the shoreline and looked westward across Singleton Lake. I was protected from the blustery easterly wind. The waves were large on the west shore of the lake according to the lone fishermen that passed by.
The sky was filled with overcast stratocumulus with most of it being based near 6 thousand feet according to the observations from Kingston and Ottawa. The tops of the cloud were light lenses in the gravity waves along the stable laye...
