Looking west around 9 am on the morning of January 20th. The nimbostratus and light snow associated with a low-pressure area was still hanging around and I wanted to try the scene depicted in #0485 "The Grazed; Ungrazed; With Snow" again. The sun was on the eastern horizon and now more than ever blocked by the nimbostratus associated with the storm, which was now centered to the east. Once again, I relaxed and let the brushes and paint fly.
As I was painting, three crows flew by the window so close that I could almost count the feathers. They later flew northbound across the hills so I put them in with a few flicks of the brush. I did this because a friend of ours claims that sarcasm is the sign of chronic depression and is terrified of seeing crows, especially three at a time. They are supposed to be omens of bad luck. I am not sarcastic at all - maybe a bit but always in a humourous way. Anyway, the three crows landed on the canvas in a good way. To me they are portents of g...
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants...
