Artist's Description
I headed down to a floating dock on the southern shore of Little Clear Lake in the Limberlost area just west of Algonquin Park. I set-up on the portion of the dock firmly attached to terra firma - not wishing to repeat my experience of the previous evening and riding the floating dock on Lake St Nora. The sun was just peaking above the forest and I enjoyed the lighting along the northeastern shore. The colours of the deciduous trees were in the process of exploding. It seemed that the trees had changed colour overnight.
A flock of Canada geese landed in and investigated what I was doing. I could get a job as a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. Tollers are known to be intelligent, alert, high-energy dogs. Tollers get their name because of their ability to lure waterfowl within gunshot range. The breed originated in southwestern Nova Scotia, Canada, where they were used for tolling and retrieving ducks.

That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
