Description
I set up my easel at 9:30 am at the car park overlooking Chimney Island. A raw southerly wind was blowing across the open water just east of Mallorytown Landing. A few mallards were “quacking” in the reeds while some Canada’s honked from one of the granite islands. An overcast deck of stratocumulus based around 5 thousand feet, effectively blocked out the heat of the sun. Some light got through the cloud cover but it was not enough to keep my hands warm!
I zoomed in on the island to make this composition. There were several low water stripes etched into the granite indicating that the water levels on the St Lawrence were continuing to drop. The low water in the Great Lakes is becoming a real concern and no one seems to know exactly where that water has gone?
