Description
From Thursday, April 27th, 2006. Our Maine Coon cat and I headed out to paint from the back hill at Watershed Farm on the 12th Concession of King Township. The hill is on the top of the Oak Ridges Moraine and divides the watersheds. The front yard drains to Lake Simcoe. The back yard drains to Lake Ontario through the Humber River.
The wind was cool out of the north and the cumulus were responding rapidly to the day time heating and the wind. Given the rapid vertical development occurring even at 9 am, there must have been some sort of upper trough giving some lift and a boost to the cumulus. Our Maine Coon cat stayed with me rubbing against my legs and getting some fur into the paint when I bend down to pet her. This view is looking northwest across the hills of the Oak Ridges Moraine.
I tired a new technique. Grass texturing of the final painting can be achieved by leaving the canvas on the easel on the middle of the hill and carrying the cat back to the house for lunch. The wind will blow the easel over, leaving the paint strongly textured like grass, grass on the painting and paint on the grass. However successful this approach might be, I don't think this method will catch on.
