Description
I was planning on painting outside but the freezing drizzle chilled me to the bone .... so I worked from a photo that I had taken of a family group of mergansers hunting along the shore of Lake Solitaire. Lake Solitaire is in the Limberlost area just outside the west boundary of Algonquin Park. I spent a day paddling the lake in September of 2006. I swung well to the outside of the mergansers as they were herding minnows into the shallow water for easier chasing. They were still a bit nervous by my presence in "Margaritaville".
It is called "Ducky Hunting Party" because these mergansers seem to be having a loads of fun when they are out together chasing down minnows.
