Description
Sunset on Friday the 13th made me think of superstitions. Stevie Wonder maybe said it best. "When you believe in things That you don't understand Then you suffer Superstition ain't the way." We saw Stevie Wonder in concert at Queens University - I think it was the winter of 1972. I am not superstitious - touch wood. That particular superstition has its roots in ancient pagan cultures who worshipped and mythologised trees. They believed trees were oracles and were home to spirits and gods. I plant trees. They are my friends. I have some very old friends at the Singleton Sanctuary.
As Stevie Wonder wrote in 1972:
Very superstitious, writings on the wall,
Very superstitious, ladders bout' to fall,
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past
When you believe in things that you don't understand, Then you suffer, Superstition ain't the way.
I am with Stevie on this... We saw him play that song and others at Queens University in the fall of 1972. Stevie and his band were remarkable and very professional. We had "Talking Book" along with other albums, in our collection.
Now back to painting...
I just loved the colours in the sunset sky. The Langmuir streaks were also evident in the surface of Singleton Lake. My friend Dale had the porch light on across the lake. There is never a dull moment in the natural or supernatural world.

The singleton view is always fascinating and the colors and shapes are ever changing...lovely abstract and pop of golden yellows and oranges to contrast with the lavender/blues/grayed greens and salty sea/sky colors! Wow! Beautiful atmosphere with mystery and elegance! Nothing but the wonder and gorgeousness of the amazing place we call earth!

Yes Sunny. The natural world is what inspires me. There is never a dull moment and something exciting to observe. I wsih the poiticians cared more about nature than their economy. I value your support and kindness. Thank you!
