New Year Stratocumulus

Medium
Painting - Oil On Canvas
Description
I made some time to paint starting at 3:30 pm Monday, January 1st, 2007. This is the view from the hill beside the grave of the family Chesapeake looking west. The cat was inside beside the wood stove. I was alone. The sky is accurate but I moved the details around in the foreground.
The cold front had passed through and the temperature was dropping from the record high of 9.2 Celsius. This breaks the old record set in 1979 of 9.1 Celsius. The turbulent stratocumulus was whipping by and every now and again there was a brightening between the cloud streets. There were some embedded towering cumulus in the cloud streets and I had to bail just before it showered. I was very happy with the strength and vitality in the brush strokes and colours.

Brisk brushwork and cool skies convey a somber tone Phil! Sorry about your Chessie! I think the cat has the right idea!
Phil Chadwick replied:
Yes... the cat is also buried there now beside her pal. Pets can't live forever unfortunately. They were members of the family and lived until they were elderly senior citizens in dog and cat years. Thank you for you ongoing and very thoughtful observations.
