Description
This is the first demonstration piece for the second week of teaching at the Southampton Art School. This is looking west-northwest toward Chantry Light with a fog bank and a cold front on the western horizon. The winds were light easterly and it was warm and somewhat humid. I was hoping for a good thunderstorm to paint along the cold front later in the day. A whitetail doe came out of the sand dunes to the north while we painted. I was in and out of the creative zone as I alternated explanation with painting.
I sketched a little girl playing along the lake shore. This is something I rarely do. I was goofing around so I made the little girl almost hidden in the composition. I wanted to demonstrate that art had to be fun and full of experimentation.
