Description
This is a strong thunderstorm and quite possibly a supercell in structure, approaching Chantry Light over Lake Huron off the shore of Southampton. There is a lot of directional wind shear in the atmosphere in the need of some more instability. This convective instability might be available once the storm moves onshore and follows the lake breeze front inland. There will be lots of helicity (directional and speed shear) along the lake breeze front to maintain the supercell structure of the thunderstorm.
I wondered what really happened. Probably nothing! A supercell is a tough storm to get going and even tougher to keep going. All of the forces have to be present at the right time and in the right quantity for the thunderstorm to grow into a true supercell.
