Description
An autumn storm was on the way. The bright sunshine was about to disappear and remain gone for a couple of days. Northeasterly low level winds were guiding the streets of low stratocumulus into the storm - that is what the cold conveyor belt does. The higher level altocumulus and cirrus on the southwestern horizon heralded the arrival of the warm conveyor belt from Florida. The orientation of the associated deformation zone suggested that the bulk of the precipitation would stay to the south.
I still had time to finish my painting. I even went for another paddle. I had thought the loons were gone but I heard one yodel as I painted. I really got into the "zone" and even broke a brush as I painted. The wooden handle of the brush simply splintered into two pieces - there is a first time for everything. The brush was quite worn out anyway but it had its use in my approach to art.
Pensive seemed to fit these clouds. They weren't really in any kind of a hurry and were maybe more thoughtful than most clouds. Perhaps they were sad that they were bringing an end to a spell of amazing but very un-climatic weather for early November.
Pensive: adjective 1. dreamily or wistfully thoughtful: a pensive mood. 2. expressing or revealing thoughtfulness, usually marked by some sadness.
